  Disobedience against the National Law. National laws are laws of the country for the good, protection  and provisions of every citizen of the Nation.   Disobedience to any law may also lead to national punishment. Most people disobey and vandalize public properties, e.g.  breaking or bursting pipelines may lead to serious oil fire  the outbreak, death of people and scarcity fuel .  Not obeying traffic rules, answering a phone call while driving on  the highway may cause fatal accidents, severe injuries  and untimely death . Looting of government treasury will  eventually, lead to financial and economic crises in the nation,  while the looters will face Gods judgment and, when caught  will face social embarrassment and maybe jailed. Furthermore, politicians who break the rules and regulations  of elections stand the chance of being disqualified, people  may revolt and this may lead to killings, confusion  destruction of personal and public properties etc. In most cases, the

POST-CIVIL WAR-YEAR 5

  POST-CIVIL WAR The civil war ended in 1970 and in 1975 Gen. Muritala  Mohammed took over from Gen. Gowon in a coup. In 1976,  Gen. Muritala was assassinated in a failed coup attempt and  was succeeded by Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo who later handed  over power to a democratically elected president Alhaji Shehu  Shagari. Shagari was later overthrown in 1983 and Major Gen.  Muhammadu Buhari took overpower. In 1985, Major Gen.  Ibrahim Babangida took over as head of state till 1993 when he  handed over to Ernest Shonekan, who handed over to Major  Gen. Sani Abacha. When Abacha died on June 8, 1998,  Abdulsalam Abubakar took over and handed over to a  democratically elected president Olusegun Obasanjo on May  29, 1999, and from there we have not had another coup till date.

  THE STATE GOVERNMENT This is the second tier of government after the local  government. The state has the governor as its head assisted  by a deputy governor. They also have commissioners as well  as special advisers and assistants. The state government also has the State House of Assembly  whose members are also elected by the people to make laws The state government performs many duties. Here are  some of them:     1.   Provision of clean water     2.   Provision of housing for the people     3.  Provision of good schools     4.   Provision of good hospitals      5. They also generate revenue from taxes

  COUPS AND THE NIGERIAN CIVIL WAR A coup is a sudden violent of a government and seizure of political power especially by the military. Civil war is a war between groups within a country. CAUSE OF NIGERIAN CIVIL WAR After independence in 1960 the three major ethnic groups in  Nigeria struggled for power. In 1966, a group of military  officers  planned a coup to overthrow the government of Sir Abubakar  Tafawa Balewa. They killed him and some Northern leaders. Then the military government under the leadership of Aguiyi  Ironsi was established. Later in July 1966 a counter coup was  planned and General Yakubu Gowon became the head of  state. Many Igbos who lived in the North were killed and in order to  keep the peace, General Yakubu Gowon divided the country from  four regions to twelve states.   THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT The local government is the lowest level of government. It is known as the grassroots government. It is headed by a chairman and the chairman is assisted by the councillors. The councillors are the lawmakers at the local government level. SOME OF THE DUTIES OF A LOCAL GOVERNMENT ARE:     1.  It builds and maintains primary schools     2.   It provides basic health care by building clinics     3.   It makes sure the environment is clean by providing street sweepers     4.   It provides recreational facilities within the community such as parks.    SOURCES OF INCOME OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT     1.   Receives allocation from the state     2.  Raises money by collecting taxes and levies.

PSALM 23:1-6   The Divine Shepherd A Psalm of David.   The  Lord  is my shepherd, I shall not want; 2       he makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters; 3       he restores my soul.   GOD PROVIDES FOR OUR NEEDS (LIGHT AND AIR) MEMORY VERSE: GENESIS 1:29 "And God said, Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed which is upon the face of all the earth..."                                                                  God created the light and the air for our own good. We can get light from the sun, moon, candle and electricity. We can also get air from a moving fan. Though the air is  invisible,   it is good for our survival. v LIGHT: We use light to see and it also keeps us warm v AIR: We breathe in air to stay alive.

  THE KINGDOM OF GOD Memory verse: Luke 4:8 "And some fell into good soil and grew and yielded a hundredfold." What is the kingdom of God? The kingdom of God means the rule of God in our hearts. God is the king over the whole world.   THE MEANING OF THE STORY OF THE SOWER The meaning: God expects us to hear the word of God and do what He tells us to do. When we do what He tells us to do, God rules over us and we prosper. The seeds that bore fruits are those who heard the word of God  and did what God told them to do.

  THE TRANSFIGURATION OF JESUS Memory Verse: Matthew 17:5 ... "This is my beloved son  with whom I am well pleased, listen to him." What is transfiguration? Transfiguration means a complete change of form or appearance into a more beautiful or spiritual state. Jesus took Peter, James and John and went up a high mountain. There, He transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun and His garment was as white as snow. Moses and Elijah appeared and talked with Jesus. Then Peter said I will make three booths here, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah. When Peter was speaking, a thick cloud covered all of them and a voice from the cloud said: "This is my beloved son with whom I am well pleased, listen to him."                                                                                                                                            THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE TRANSFIGURATION 1. Jesus was confirmed as the son of God.                 

Learner’s disobedience and it’s Consequences-Year 7

  Learner’s disobedience and it’s Consequences Who is a learner?  A learner is a person who is finding out about a subject or how to do something. Learners as students are to obey the rules and regulations of the school authority.  Consequences If they disobey, they will be punished.  For example, breaking the law or rules of the school authority  may lead to punishment such as labour or corporal  punishment, suspension for a few weeks or outright  expulsion  from the school according to the gravity of the disobedience. Anybody that will break  the moral law and goes into fornication   may have an unwanted pregnancy, expulsion from school,  sexually transmitted diseases and some killer diseases such   as HIV/AIDS.  Also, becoming a cult member in school will  result in expulsion; examinations malpractice may lead to imprisonment and other ugly consequences such as corporal  punishment.   Disobedience generally always leads to the break down of relationships.

ECOWAS-YEAR 5

  ECOWAS stands for the Economic Community of The West African States. It was founded by West African countries in 1975.  There are fifteen member countries which Nigeria is one.    ECOWAS mission:     1.   Promote co-operation and development in economic activities among member states     2.   Raise the standard of the living of citizens of its member states       3.   Contribute to the progress and development of Africa. There are currently 15 member countries in the             Economic Community of West African States.  The founding members of ECOWAS were:  Benin  Côte d'Ivoire  The Gambia Ghana  Guinea  Guinea-Bissau  Liberia  Mali  Mauritania (left 2002)  Niger  Nigeria  Senegal Sierra Leone Togo Burkina Faso (which joined as  Upper Volta )  Cape Verde joined in 1977.
