THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT

The local government is the lowest level of government. It is known as the grassroots government. It is headed by a chairman and the chairman is assisted by the councillors. The councillors are the lawmakers at the local government level.

SOME OF THE DUTIES OF A LOCAL GOVERNMENT ARE:

    1. It builds and maintains primary schools

    2. It provides basic health care by building clinics

    3. It makes sure the environment is clean by providing street sweepers

    4. It provides recreational facilities within the community such as parks.

   SOURCES OF INCOME OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT

    1. Receives allocation from the state

    2. Raises money by collecting taxes and levies.
