THE GOLDEN RULE/JESUS PRAYS TO HIS FATHER FOR US-YEAR 5

THE GOLDEN RULE

MEMORY VERSE: LUKE 10:27 "And he answered, you

shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with

all your soul, and with all your strength and to love your

 neighbour as yourself."

THE GOLDEN RULE

One day, a lawyer asked Jesus what he MUST do to enter

heaven, Jesus replied by giving him the Gold Rule saying:

"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and

with all your soul, and with all your strength and love

your neighbour as yourself." Luke 10:27 (This is the

 Golden Rule).

THE CONTENT OF THE GOLDEN RULE

1. We MUST love God with all our heart, soul and strength.

2. We MUST obey Him.

3. We MUST follow His Commandments and do what He wants us to do.

4. We MUST love our neighbour as ourselves.

JESUS PRAYS TO HIS FATHER FOR US

Memory verse: Luke 23:43 "And he said to him, Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise."

What is prayer?

Prayer means a solemn request for help or expression of thanks addressed to God or another deity.

It is the communication of the human soul with the Lord who

 created the soul.

Jesus' teaching on love of one's enemies

Who are our enemies? Our enemies are people who do bad things to us.

Jesus said we should love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us so that we may be called sons of God.

Jesus prayed for the Jews who hated him so much and even killed him. In Luke 23:34, Jesus prayed thus: "Father forgive them; for they know not what they do."

For us to be true Christians, we have to be imitators of Christ

by praying for people even the ones that do not love us.
