  CA LL OF JESUS DISCIPLE Jesus calls His first four disciples.  Matt 8: 18-22, Mk 1: 14-20, Luke 5: 1-11   A disciple is a pupil, student or follower who receives instructions from his teacher or his master . The first four disciples were Peter and his brother, Andrew; and the two brothers, James and John.   According to Matthew and Mark, one day, as Jesus  was walking along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Peter  and Andrew casting their net into the sea, for they  were fishermen. Jesus called them to be his disciples  saying: “ follow me, and l will make you fishers of  men. ” And immediately, they followed Jesus. A few  meters away from where Jesus called Peter and  Andrew, Jesus met the two brothers, James and  John, the sons of Zebedee. They were with their  father mending their broken nets. Gen. 12:5-9 CONTENT: Meaning of Obedience Obedience means doing what you are told to do. It is to comply with the rules and regulations at home and at school, and with the laws in the community. It is to adhere to instructions given to us or to act upon any order or command given to us.   Abraham obeys God’s call (Genesis 12:1-4) Abraham’s father was Terah. He was the descendants of one of those people who were scattered in small language groups after the Tower of Babel incident. He grew up in Ur of Chaldeans. Therefore, repentance is the act of regretting or feeling sorry or ashamed for any wrongdoing. It is the realization that what we have done is bad/wrong and we are ready to apologize and ask for forgiveness.     B.   Disobedience against the National Law. National laws are laws of the country for the good, protection  and provisions of every citizen of the Nation.   Disobedience to any law may also lead to national punishment. Most people disobey and vandalize public properties, e.g.  breaking or bursting pipelines may lead to serious oil fire  the outbreak, death of people and scarcity fuel .  Not obeying traffic rules, answering a phone call while driving on  the highway may cause fatal accidents, severe injuries  and untimely death . Looting of government treasury will  eventually, lead to financial and economic crises in the nation,  while the looters will face Gods judgment and, when caught  will face social embarrassment and maybe jailed. Furthermore, politicians who break the rules and regulations  of elections stand the chance of being disqualified, people  may revolt and this may lead to killings, confusion  destruction of personal and public properties etc. In most cases, the

  THE GOLDEN RULE MEMORY VERSE: LUKE 10:27 "And he answered, you  shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with  all your soul, and with all your strength and to love your  neighbour as yourself." THE GOLDEN RULE One day, a lawyer asked Jesus what he MUST do to enter  heaven, Jesus replied by giving him the Gold Rule saying:  "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and  with all your soul, and with all your strength and love  your neighbour as yourself." Luke 10:27 (This is the  Golden Rule).   THE CONTENT OF THE GOLDEN RULE 1. We MUST love God with all our heart, soul and strength. 2. We MUST obey Him. 3. We MUST follow His Commandments and do what He wants us to do. 4.   POST-CIVIL WAR The civil war ended in 1970 and in 1975 Gen. Muritala  Mohammed took over from Gen. Gowon in a coup. In 1976,  Gen. Muritala was assassinated in a failed coup attempt and  was succeeded by Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo who later handed  over power to a democratically elected president Alhaji Shehu  Shagari. Shagari was later overthrown in 1983 and Major Gen.  Muhammadu Buhari took overpower. In 1985, Major Gen.  Ibrahim Babangida took over as head of state till 1993 when he  handed over to Ernest Shonekan, who handed over to Major  Gen. Sani Abacha. When Abacha died on June 8, 1998,  Abdulsalam Abubakar took over and handed over to a  democratically elected president Olusegun Obasanjo on May  29, 1999, and from there we have not had another coup till date.

  THE STATE GOVERNMENT This is the second tier of government after the local  government. The state has the governor as its head assisted  by a deputy governor. They also have commissioners as well  as special advisers and assistants. The state government also has the State House of Assembly  whose members are also elected by the people to make laws The state government performs many duties. Here are  some of them:     1.   Provision of clean water     2.   Provision of housing for the people     3.  Provision of good schools     4.   Provision of good hospitals      5. Provision of good roads   Sources of income                          1. They receive a monthly allocation from the federal government      2. They make from trading goods with other states      3. They also generate revenue from taxes
