PAUL'S CONVERSION-YEAR 6

  Paul’s Conversion MEMORY VERSE: ACTS 9:4 “And he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul why do you persecute me…?” Paul’s Proposed Mission to Damascus As Paul continued his persecution of the disciples of the Lord,  he collected letters from the high priests in Jerusalem in  order  to arrest Christians in the synagogue at Damascus. On his way, he encountered Jesus and was struck blind and  he was led by his friends to Damascus where he remained  blind for three days without food and water. Later, the Lord  sent Ananias to pray for him to regain his sight. He was also  baptized and he started preaching about Jesus in the  Synagogue in Damascus. Importance of Paul’s conversion 1. It led to the spread of Christianity. 2. Paul converted many people. 3. He established many churches in all the places he visited.

He had a twin brother called Esau.  Jacob cheated Esau and he ran away to live with his uncle  called Laban in Haran.   He married two wives; Leah and  Rachel and had twelve sons. SUB-TOPIC 1: TOGETHERNESS IN THE EARLY CHURCH At the ascension of Jesus Christ into heaven, the number of  disciples including women were about one hundred and  twenty (120). After Peter’s speech on the day of Pentecost  about three a thousand souls were baptized and added to the  Church. Also after the prayer of Peter and John for the  the crippled man at the beautiful gate who got healed during the   hour of prayer, about five thousand men were converted and   added to the church. The converts all stayed in Jerusalem with the disciples.  They formed the early Church. There was a sense of  togetherness and belonging among members of the early  Church.   THE GOOD SHEPHERD Memory Verse: Psalms 23:1-2   "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want; he makes  me  lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still  waters." Who is a shepherd? A Shepherd is a person who looks after a flock of sheep. Who is a good shepherd?   A good shepherd is the one who loves his sheep and takes good care of them. QUALITIES OF A GOOD SHEPHERD 1. He is a good leader. 2. He loves his sheep. 3. He protects his sheep from danger. 4. He provides food and water for his sheep. 5. He knows his sheep by name. THE ADVANTAGES OF FOLLOWING JESUS 1. You will be in the path of righteousness always. 2. You will have peace of mind. 3. You will have hope and confidence. 4. You will spend eternal life in heaven.

Gen. 2: 22-25, Eph. 5:21-31 Marriage is the legal union or relationship between a man and a woman to become husband and wife .  Marriage was instituted by God right from the time of creation.   After creating Adam, God saw that it was not good for the man to be alone, He decided to make a woman as a help-meet for man.   Therefore the original plan of God was and is still that a matured man and a matured woman will come together as husband and wife.   The idea of homosexuals/lesbians i.e. people of the same sex getting married or sleeping together as married people is sin. Polygamists i.e. a man marrying many wives is not God’s plan for His people. This is not according to the word of God and should be discouraged.  All these are evil practices of men that are against God’s plan for man.

JESUS LOVES ALL PEOPLE(BARTIMAEUS)-YEAR 4

  JESUS LOVES ALL PEOPLE. Matt. 5:44-48; John 15:12; Mark 10:46-52 Memory Verse: John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only  begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not  perish but have everlasting life." INSTANCES WHERE JESUS DEMONSTRATED HIS LOVE TO PEOPLE   1. Jesus healed the Blind Bartimaeus because of his love for him. (Mark 10:46-52) 2. The chief tax collector called Zacchaeus was considered to be a sinner yet Jesus showed him, love, by visiting his house. (Luke19:2-8) 3. Jesus also showed love, Mary Magdalene, when he cast out demons from her     ADVANTAGES OF SHOWING LOVE TO ONE ANOTHER 1. It draws us nearer to one another. 2. It promotes peaceful living among people. 3. It makes us care for one another. 4. It brings unity.

  THE GOODNESS OF JESUS John 2:1-11, Mark8:21-28 Memory Verse: John 2:4 "...O woman, what have you  to  do with me? My hour has not yet come." What is goodness? To be good is to be kind, loving, generous and forgiving. Goodness therefore means kindness,, being loving, generous  and forgiving. QUALITIES OF GOODNESS 1. Kindness   2. Love 3. Generosity 4. Forgiveness   INSTANCES WHERE JESUS SHOWS HIS GOODNESS TO OTHERS IN THE BIBLE 1. Jesus turns water into wine at Cana. (John2:1-11) 2. Jesus healed a blind man at Bethsaida. (Mark 8:21-28) 3. Jesus died on the cross in order to save us.
