THE TRANSFIGURATION OF JESUS-YEAR 4

THE TRANSFIGURATION OF JESUS

Memory Verse: Matthew 17:5 ... "This is my beloved son

with whom I am well pleased, listen to him."

What is transfiguration?

Transfiguration means a complete change of form or appearance into a more beautiful or spiritual state.

Jesus took Peter, James and John and went up a high mountain. There, He transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun and His garment was as white as snow. Moses and Elijah appeared and talked with Jesus. Then Peter said I will make three booths here, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah. When Peter was speaking, a thick cloud covered all of them and a voice from the cloud said: "This is my beloved son with whom I am well pleased, listen to him."

 THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE TRANSFIGURATION

1. Jesus was confirmed as the son of God.

2. The three disciples saw the glory of God came down.

3. It also shows that Jesus is superior to the Law and the Prophets.
