JESUS CONQUERS THE DEVIL-YEAR 5
JESUS CONQUERS THE DEVIL
Memory verse: Matthew 4:4
“Man does not live on bread alone but on
every word that comes from the mouth of God."
Who is
the devil? The devil is the
Satan. He was formerly one of the archangels in heaven.
What is temptation?
This means asking or forcing someone to do what God does
not want him to do. It is
the desire to do something wrong.
THE TEMPTATION OF JESUS
First temptation:
Devil: “If
you are the son of God, turn these stones into bread”.
Jesus: “It is
written; Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from
the mouth of God.
Second temptation:
Devil: “If
you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, ‘He will give
you angels’ charge of you and on their hands, they will bear you up, lest
you strike your feet against a stone”.
Jesus: “It is
written, you shall not tempt the Lord your God”
Third temptation:
Devil: “All these
I will give to you if you will only fall down and worship me”.
Jesus: “Go away Satan, for it is written, you shall worship
the Lord your God and Him only shall you serve”.
