PSALM 23-YEAR 5

 Psalm 23

  23 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want;
2    he makes me lie down in green pastures.
2 He leads me beside still waters;
3   he restores my soul.
3 He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

4 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
    I fear no evil;
for thou art with me;
    thy rod and thy staff,
    they comfort me.

5 5 Thou preparest a table before me
    in the presence of my enemies;
thou anointest my head with oil,
    my cup overflows.
6 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
    all the days of my life;
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord 

forever.

  THE STORY OF THE BIRTH OF JESUS CHRIST Memory verse: Luke 2:14 "Glory to God in the highest  and on earth peace among men whom he is pleased. Jesus was born during the reign of King Herod and Emperor  Caesar Augustus who was the Head of State of the country. Jesus was born in a city called Bethlehem. Mary and Joseph  were his earthly parents. He was born in a stable. A stable is a  little hut where horses were kept and fed. After was born,  Mary covered Him with white cloth and laid Him in a manger.  Immediately after his birth, the shepherd visited him and  praised God.   After the shepherds, come the wise-men  (magi) from the East, they worshipped and presented the  following gifts:    1.  Gold 22.  Frankincense 33.    Myrrh . Meaning of the gifts The gold presents his kingship . The frankincense presents his priesthood The myrrh stands for his death on the cross.

THE STORY OF JOSEPH This is the story of a young man named Joseph.   His father's name is Jacob, and they lived in Canaan from where his grandfather was from. Joseph was seventeen and he had eleven brothers, and only had one brother younger than him.  Can you imagine having eleven brothers to play with, or fight with? Because Joseph was one of the youngest sons, his father spent more time with him, and he became very special to him.   So Jacob had a special robe made for Joseph.  (They didn't have jackets back then, so this was a very special jacket).   It was very beautiful and had every colour you could imagine in it. All of Joseph's older brothers saw this and they got very jealous.  The word jealous means that Joseph's brothers disliked him because they thought his father liked him more, and because he got the special coat.  They got so jealous they couldn't even say a kind word to him.
