JESUS PRAYED TO THE FATHER

Memory Verse: Matthew 6:9-13 "Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven".

A prayer is an act of communicating with God. It expresses praise, thanksgiving, confession and request.        

JESUS PRAYED FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS:

1. To show an example of how to pray to His disciples.

2. He prayed to honour God and glorify Him.

3. He prayed to give thanks to God.

THE CONTENT OF JESUS' PRAYER:

A. Adoration

B. Request

IMPORTANCE OF PRAYING

i. We pray to have a right relationship with God.

ii. To tell God our needs.

iii. To thank God for all that He has done for us.         

iv. To ask God for long life, good health, promotion and progress.

THINGS TO PRAY FOR:

1. Wisdom and the gift of the Holy Spirit.

2. Forgiveness of sins.       

3. Long life and good health.

4. Food, clothes and shelter, children e.t.c
