 CULTURAL PRESERVATION

Cultural preservation is the act of using well-designed methodologies to maintain cultural heritage.

WAYS OF PRESERVING OUR CULTURE

As cultures are based on beliefs, they are not static, they change over time hence the need to preserve them for the generation yet unborn.

Museums: A museum is a place where documents, materials, artefacts are stored and displayed.

Symbols: A symbol can refer to an object, picture, mark or image which has a particular meaning for people. Example, the Nigeria flag and Coat of Arms.

Buildings: Buildings also tell a story about our culture. The building is a way of preserving our culture for future generations.

Fashion: Our clothes and accessories are part of our culture. These clothes and accessories can be preserved. Example, 'aso oke' in Yoruba land.

 Festivals:  Festivals helps us preserve our culture because their rituals, events and customs remind us what our ancestors practised and believed. Example, Eyo festival in Lagos, New yam festival among the Igbos.

WHO IS GOD? (YEAR 7)

Who is God?   According to the Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary  defines God as the Supreme Being of Judaism, Christianity  and Islam, creator and ruler of the universe.      God is generally accepted as the creator of the world.  When there was no heaven and earth there has been God.  God is the uncreated spirit being who existed before the  beginning of time.     God is the sovereign Lord of the universe, because He is  the creator of all creatures. God is also the provider of all  needs. Before He created man He knew that man would eat,  and so he created countless plants bearing fruits for him to  eat.     He has final authority and power over everything created.  E.g. weather, seasons, storms, floods, earthquakes, man,  sun, moon, mountains, rivers etc. Attributes of God: 1.
