THE FIRST FOUR DISCIPLES OF JESUS YEAR 3 (2020/2021)

THE FIRST FOUR DISCIPLES OF JESUS

Who is a disciple?

A Disciple means a pupil or someone who is undergoing training under a superior teacher

Although Jesus had twelve disciples, he first chose four of them.

The first person was Andrew who happened to the disciple of John the

Baptist. Andrew left John and became the disciple of Jesus. Andrew

later brought his brother Simon whom Jesus changed his name to

 Cephas (Peter).

The third person was Philip whom, Jesus found on his way to

Galilee and Philip was the one that brought Nathaniel.

Although Nathaniel did not believe in Jesus at first later on he did. It was Nathaniel who asked, “Can anything good come out of

Nazareth?”

Reasons Jesus chose the disciples

1.      He needed people to help him preach the word of God.

2.      He wanted the disciples to become ambassadors after his death.
