on the rock..."

following are some of the ways through which God speaks to us:
1.
Dreams 2. Vision 3. Voice 4. Through the Prophets 5. Through His word (Bible)
REASONS WHY GOD SPEAKS TO US
God speaks to us for different reasons; some of the reasons are:
1. To lead us in the right path
2. To tell us what will happen in the future
3. To give us an assignment
4. To save us from danger
Moral Lesson: God speaks to us in various ways. We must be
patient to hear Him when He speaks
GOD IS OUR FATHER WHO TAKES CARE OF US
Memory verse: Psalm 20:7 "Some
boast of chariots and some boast of horses, but we boast of the name of the
Lord our God."
To trust is to believe in somebody who
can care for us and help us when we are in difficulty.
God cares for us
Jesus said God; our Father cares for everything in the world. He
even cares for birds and flowers.
The birds of the air do not grow food,
God, is the one that feeds them, He gives them fruits, fish and insects as
food. In the same vein, He made the flowers beautiful. The colours are more
beautiful than all our dresses.
Therefore, Jesus said God will care
for us in the same way He cares for birds and flowers. We should not worry
about what to eat drink or wear but put our trust in God. And He will always
provide for us.
THE CALL OF ABRAHAM
MEMORY VERSE:
Genesis 12:1 "Go from your
country and kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show
you."
Terah,
was the father of Abraham. They
lived in Ur in the Southern Mesopotamia.
After the death of Terah, God called
Abraham to leave his country to a new land that He would show Him. He was
seventy-five years old when God called him. When he was ninety-nine years old,
God made a covenant with him. During this covenant that God changed his name
from Abram to Abraham meaning "Father of a multitude."
When God called Abraham, He promised him the following:
1. I will make of you a great nation
2. I will bless you
3. I will make your name great
4. I will bless those who bless you and him who curses you, I will
curse.
5. By you all the families of the earth shall bless themselves.
THE STORY OF JOSEPH (1)
MEMORY VERSE:
Genesis: 37:10 "What is this that you have dreamed?
Shall I and your mother and your brothers bow down to you?”
Joseph was one of the twelve Sons of
Jacob. His mother's name was Rachael and he had a younger brother called
Benjamin. He was is his father's favourite son because he was an obedient boy. His father made a long-sleeved robe of many colours for him.
Joseph had two dreams:
Joseph
dreamt that he and his brothers were binding
sheaves in the field and his brothers' sheaves bowed down to his own.
In
the second dream,
Joseph saw the sun, moon and eleven stars worshipping him.
His
brothers do not like Joseph because of the following reasons:
v Because he was his father's favourite son.
v Because of his dream of greatness
Joseph’s brothers were in Dothan looking after
the flock when Jacob sent Joseph to go and give them food. When they saw him
and they planned to kill him but Reuben, one of the brothers advised them not
to kill Joseph but to throw him into a nearby dry pit. After a while, they
brought him out of the pit and sold him to some traders (Ishmaelite) going to Egypt at twenty shekels of silver.
JOSEPH AS THE SERVANT OF PORTIPHAR
Genesis39:9 "How can I do this
great wickedness and sin against God."
JOSEPH IN PORTIPHAR'S HOUSE
Portiphar
was an officer of the king of Egypt. He bought Joseph as a slave.
He was a good man but his wife was a bad woman. One day, she told Joseph to
sleep with her but Joseph refused and this angered her and she lied against Joseph
that Joseph wanted to rape her. She told her husband who believed her and put
Joseph in Prison.
JOSEPH IN PRISON
While Joseph was
in prison, he helped the chief butler and baker to interpret their dreams.
Joseph told the chief butler to remember him after regaining his freedom. While
the chief baker was killed three days after he was released, the butler was
given back his job at the palace.
JOSEPH INTERPRETS PHARAOH'S DREAMS
Two years
after Joseph was put in prison, Pharaoh, the king of Egypt had two dreams:
v He saw
seven bad cows eating seven good cows.
v He saw seven thin maize destroying seven good
maize.
No one in Egypt was able to tell the meaning
and then the chief butler remembered Joseph and told the king about him.
When Joseph came, he interpreted the dreams
thus:
v "There would be seven years of plenty
food and thereafter, there would be seven years of famine".
He advised the king to store plenty
food against the seven years of famine. The king was pleased with him and
decided to make Joseph the governor of Egypt.
