ENTRY INTO THE PROMISED LAND
Memory Verse: Joshua 4:6-7
"When
your children ask you in time to come, 'What do these stones mean to you?' Then
you shall tell them that the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark
of the covenant of the Lord; when it passed over the Jordan..."
After Moses died, God made
Joshua the new leader of the Israelites.
God then told Joshua to take the people to the River Jordan.
Joshua lead the Israelites to cross the River Jordan with the priests
in front carrying the Ark of the Covenant. The feet of the priests
touched the water and God divided the river into two. The Israelites
crossed the River Jordan on dry ground and entered the Promised
Land.
THE TWELVE
STONE
After crossing the river, God told Joshua to select twelve men with
one man from each tribe. Each man would take a stone from the
middle of the River Jordan and each tribe would keep the stone
forever.
The stone was to remind them of God's help in crossing the River
Jordan.
